Welcome to CivReady! This guide will help you get the most out of our military-to-civilian resume translation service.

Getting Started

Follow these steps to create your first translated resume:

  1. Create an Account: Sign up with your email address or use the free trial to test the service.
  2. Upload Your Military Resume: Go to the Dashboard and click "Generate Resume". Upload your existing military resume in PDF, DOCX, or TXT format.
  3. Add Target Job Information: Paste the job description for the position you're applying to. This helps our AI tailor your resume to match specific requirements.
  4. Review and Download: Once the AI processes your resume, review the translation and download it in your preferred format.

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard is your command center for managing resumes and tracking your job search:

  • Resume Generation Stats: View how many resumes you've created and your remaining credits.
  • Recent Resumes: Quick access to your most recently generated resumes.
  • Average ATS Score: See how well your resumes perform against Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Job Applications: Track the jobs you've applied to (available on paid plans).

Generating a Resume

Step 1: Upload Your Military Resume

Click "Generate Resume" and upload your current military resume. The AI will extract:

  • Your MOS (Military Occupational Specialty)
  • Ranks and promotions
  • Duty assignments and responsibilities
  • Awards and commendations
  • Technical skills and certifications

Step 2: Add Job Description

Paste the full job description from the posting. Include:

  • Job title
  • Required qualifications
  • Key responsibilities
  • Preferred skills
  • Company information (if available)

Step 3: Select Resume Format

Choose the format that best fits your experience level:

  • Chronological: Best for those with consistent work history (most common)
  • Functional: Emphasizes skills over timeline (good for career changers)
  • Hybrid: Combines both approaches (flexible option)

Step 4: Review Your Resume

The AI will generate your translated resume. Review it carefully to ensure:

  • All military jargon has been translated appropriately
  • Your accomplishments are quantified when possible
  • Keywords from the job description are included
  • Formatting is clean and ATS-friendly

Managing Your Resumes

Access all your generated resumes from the "Resumes" page:

  • View: See the full resume content in your browser
  • Download: Export in PDF, DOCX, or TXT format (depending on your plan)
  • Regenerate: Create a new version with different formatting or updates
  • Delete: Remove old or outdated resumes

Job Application Tracking

Available on Job Seeker and Career Transition plans

Keep track of all your job applications in one place:

  • Add Jobs: Save job postings you're interested in
  • Track Status: Mark applications as Applied, Interview, Offer, or Rejected
  • Link Resumes: Associate specific resume versions with each application
  • Add Notes: Keep track of contacts, follow-ups, and interview prep

Tips for Best Results

  • Be Specific: Include quantifiable achievements (e.g., "Led team of 15" instead of "Led team")
  • Include Full Job Descriptions: The more context the AI has, the better it can tailor your resume
  • Review and Edit: While our AI is powerful, always review and personalize the output
  • Use Keywords: Make sure industry-specific keywords from the job posting appear in your resume
  • Keep It Updated: Generate new resumes for each job application to maximize relevance
  • Check ATS Score: Aim for 80%+ to ensure your resume passes automated screening

Managing Your Subscription

View and manage your subscription from Account Settings:

  • View Plan: See your current plan tier and features
  • Check Credits: Monitor your remaining resume generation credits
  • Upgrade: Switch to a higher plan for more features
  • Cancel: End your subscription (no refunds for current period)
